Ep #53: Times I Wanted To Give Up On My Business
Sometimes in life, there are things that you just want to give up...
Yes?
As for me, this year, I had this thought of wanting to give up my business because there’s just so much that’s going on.
Like what everyone else is feeling at this moment, right?
The uncertainty, doubts, internal conflicts, and the battles that we’re fighting each and every day - it just doesn’t feel good nor right anymore. But we’re still here right? We’re holding on because we know we’ve got a chance. We have the courage, we worked on our mindset that giving up won’t solve everything, instead, it is our decision, and how we analyse things make it better.
Isn’t it satisfying that we had these ‘giving up’ moments and then we persevere and come out successful at the end? (I know, some things don’t work out this way but at the very least, we did our best - we took the chance so we don’t regret anything.)
So, back to when I wanted to give up my business - I was stuck working IN my business, not ON my business. I don’t have enough money, I have employees that I need to pay - and then it struck me. I was starting to do it for money, not for helping people.
Thus, this leads me back to my very first goal, which is to help people and help them change their lives. Now, my business is back to normal - well, not the way it used to be but we’re thriving.
We need to understand that this is all part of the journey because, at the end of the day, you're not going to be happier if you get a job. You're not going to be happier if you just give up on your business. So you are here, you chose to jump, you got to keep taking risks, you got to keep choosing to swim.
And the thing is, the risk when you're swimming in the ocean and you can't see the land, you have to make tough decisions. You got to choose to go in one direction because if you stay still, you're never gonna get there.
Choosing to float is also choosing to float while you're moving. You cannot just stay still and expect to get to where you want to get. You gotta take risks. And sometimes taking a risk means really taking a risk. Sometimes it means to be willing to lose at all. Sometimes it means to be willing to start from scratch. You just have to be willing to jump, you cannot stay still. Part of being a business owner is that you need to be okay taking risks.
