How to create a successful brand
Your brand is you.
It’s your face, your personality, your actions, your attitude – it’s your authentic self! People want to see the person behind the business, and, for some people, this will determine if they decide to invest their time and money into you.
Top tip: Always remember who you are and always as yourself, “Is this staying true to me?” Once you are able to pinpoint the things that make you who you are and what you want from your business and life.
Where are you going to start?
Start by showing your face!! You don’t always need to have professional pictures or have make up on or have your hair done – most people show the best version of themselves and their life and I think it is more important to show people the real, unedited you. Personal Branding starts with you.
People tend to get caught up in colours and fonts when starting out, however, I believe, there are more important aspects to your business hen starting out. Don’t perfect it right away because it will just push everything backwards.
When Building your brand think about your audience. Listen what their pains, needs and wants are. I always take note what they comment on and the common mistakes or struggles they tend to have. When you truly understand your audience, you can create better products and service to better serve them. Keep this in mind as you figure out your brand.
Top tip: use my story pitch formula to sell yourself. Ditch the business cards and start giving out your Facebook and Instagram handle. Your story pitch should be no more than 60 seconds and it is used to tell people what you do in an authentic way. These are the questions you should answer during your pitch:
- Who were you when you were starting out?
- What problems did you have?
- How did you solve them?
- What do you do now?
Remember, people are opportunities, your network equals your net worth, and everyone needs something.
Your brand is something that is going to stick with you throughout your journey, so it does not need to be rushed. Take time and map out what you want – it will come naturally over time, so don’t stress! Have fun with this, it should be exciting!!
